Ringer Library Expansion Causing Seven Month Closure Starting In November

From the city of College Station:

The next phase of the Larry J. Ringer Library Expansion Project — involving major demolition and heavy construction — will require the library to close on Monday, Nov. 5, and remain closed until the first week of June 2019.

During this seven months of work, exterior walls will be demolished, concrete and structural steel will be installed, new walls will be constructed and full renovation of restrooms will occur. The complete closure of the library not only ensures the safety of the public and library staff, but also allows the expansion project to finish in time for summer 2019 programming at the library.

The Larry J. Ringer Library Expansion Project was approved by College Station voters in 2008. The $6 million+ contract with Acklam Construction includes a 12,000-square-foot addition and the renovation of the existing 16,000-square-foot building. The expansion consists of a large program room and a more substantial children’s area, along with parking improvements.
