Restaurant Patron Jailed for Death Threat

There are not many sheriff’s deputies on the road at any given time. But one was close enough Saturday night to make an arrest outside a business north of Lake Bryan.

According to the arrest report, the deputy responded to the report of a robbery in progress at the Top Of The Hill Grocery and Grill, off OSR in the Benchley community.

The store owner and the suspect were sitting on a wooden bench outside the building. The deputy removed from the suspect a loaded 38 caliber pistol from his right hip.

The store owner said she saw the man leave his vehicle, and head inside saying with an expletive he was going to kill whoever took his order over the telephone.

The owner saw the suspect enter the store and point the pistol at the clerk. The arrest report did not state why the suspect stayed around or if he got his food.

Taken to jail on a charge of deadly conduct was 56 year old Edward Heard, Junior, who lives a few blocks from the business.
