College Station Police Report An Officer Involved Shooting Where The Person Who Was Shot Sustained Non Life Threatening Injuries

College Station police identify the man who fired a gun outside an apartment complex and was later shot by an officer after refusing to drop his gun. A CSPD news release 28 year old Charles Male of Hearne was taken to a local hospital for treatment of a non life threatening wound. The news release also says the shot fired by the officer is believed to have ricocheted into an apartment and struck a woman in the leg. The woman was also taken to the hospital for medical treatment. The news release says once Male is released from the hospital, he will be taken to jail on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, deadly conduct, making a terroristic threat, and discharging a gun. The Texas Rangers are investigating the officer involved shooting. News release from the College Station police department: CSPD officers were initially dispatched in response to a civil disturbance. During the incident, the suspect threatened an individual and armed himself with a firearm. Upon arrival, the first officer heard the suspect fire a round into an adjacent apartment. The officer approached, issued lawful commands for the suspect to drop the weapon, and the suspect refused. The officer then discharged his firearm, striking and disarming the suspect, who was taken into custody. Officers immediately began providing medical aid for the suspect’s non-life-threatening injuries. While treating the suspect, officers learned that a resident in a neighboring apartment had been struck in the leg by what is believed to have been a ricochet from the officer’s gunfire. Officers rendered aid to the resident until CSFD arrived. Investigators continued gathering critical information while both the suspect and the injured resident received treatment at the hospital. The suspect, Charles Allan Male, 28, of Hearne, Texas, has been charged with: • Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon • Deadly Conduct • Terroristic Threat • Discharge of a Firearm Male is currently receiving medical care and will be transported to the Brazos County Jail for booking upon his release. The gunfire followed officers responding to a civil disturbance where a man whose name was not released reportedly fired into an apartment. When officers encountered the armed man is when an unidentified officer fired their gun. The news release says officers disarmed the man and began rendering aid. The man was taken to a local hospital for treatment of an undisclosed number of gunshot wounds. CSPD says Texas Rangers are investigating the officer involved shooting. The news release does not say if the man who was shot will face or has been arrested on any criminal charges. The news release does not say if officers found evidence of gunshots fired by the man. News release from College Station police: On May 16, 2026, at approximately 11:25 p.m., College Station Police Department (CSPD) officers responded to The Ivey Apartments, located at 1301 Harvey Rd. in College Station, Texas, following reports of a civil disturbance in progress. Officers received information that a male suspect was outside the apartment complex armed with a firearm and threatening to shoot. While officers were responding to the scene, the suspect reportedly fired into a neighboring apartment. Officers arrived shortly thereafter and located the suspect still armed with the firearm. Upon encountering the armed suspect, an officer-involved shooting occurred. After the suspect was disarmed, officers immediately began rendering aid. The suspect was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. No officers were injured during the incident. The Texas Rangers will continue the investigation into the officer-involved shooting. At this time, the investigation is ongoing, and additional information will be released as it becomes available.

Texas A&M’s New President Signs A Five Year Contract

The day after Susan Ballabina was named president of Texas A&M by the board of regents, she and the chancellor signed her contract. A copy of the five year contract provided by the system office to WTAW News says her base salary starts at $1.25 million dollars a year. She is getting deferred compensation of $150,000 a year. And after her annual job review with the regents, Ballabina is eligible for an annual merit retention bonus of up to 25 percent of her base salary. Other clauses in the nine page contract addresses other benefits and clauses regarding reassignment and termination, how Ballabina can serve on other governing boards with the regents approval, and the option to extend the contract at any time. Bryan/College Station Chamber Of Commerce Delegation Makes Its Annual Trip To Meet Federal Lawmakers In Washington

For decades, a group of Bryan/College Station chamber of commerce members and local government leaders spend the better part of a week lobbying federal lawmakers in Washington D.C. More than 30 people made this week’s trip to present the chamber’s legislative action plan, which addresses local issues that includes transportation, health care, education, and economic development. Chamber president Glen Brewer said the delegation received updates from lawmakers and the White House liaison to Congress. And those who made the trip split up and contacted both of Texas U.S. senators, all members of the state’s congressional delegation, and the chairs of committees controlling issues that are local priorities.
