A $20 dollar shoplifting at the Bryan Wal-Mart on Briarcrest Tuesday night resulted in staying in jail on bonds totaling $21,000 dollars. According to the arrest report, 22 year old Courtney Griffin of Washington has ten theft convictions, nine of them last year. She told police she didn’t want to pay for a pair of pants because they were for work. Griffin was also arrested for initially identifying herself as her sister, another misdemeanor theft, and for violating a criminal trespass warning issued by the same Wal-Mart nearly three years ago.
A Bryan man who led a Brazos County sheriff’s deputy on a chase early Wednesday morning was found hiding in a closet at his parents house. According to the arrest report, the deputy wanted to stop the car because the registration expired last month and insurance could not be confirmed. From the area of Highway 21 and 17th Street, west of Texas, the pursuit went to 18th and Bowery when the car stopped and the driver jumped out. The deputy went to a house where he heard a door slam, and found the driver in the closet. According to the arrest report, 33 year old Latheron Dunn had ten active suspensions on his drivers license. He was arrested for evading arrest and driving with an invalid license with a prior conviction, and is out of jail after posting bonds totaling $11,000.
