Record Night from 3 Leads Aggies to 109-68 Victory Over Jaspers

The Texas A&M men’s basketball team knocked down a program-best 18 3-pointers to cruise past Manhattan, 109-68, at Reed Arena Friday night. Rubén Dominguez led the way with 30 points, connecting on a school record 10 shots from beyond the arc.

Rylan Griffen set the tone at the start, knocking down an early 3-pointer to spark the offensive attack for the Aggies (4-2). Another Griffen 3 nearing the midway point in the first half ignited a 22-4 scoring spree for the Maroon & White. Texas A&M went up by as many as 30 points in the opening period and took a 55-27 lead on the Jaspers (3-3) into the halftime break. Griffen and Dominguez combined for 22 points, going 7-for-10 from beyond the arc in the period, while Marcus Hill added 11 first-half points.

The Aggie offense continued to surge in the second half, extending the lead to as many as 41 points late in the game. Dominguez didn’t let up, knocking down six of his record 10 3’s in the second half.

Hill helped lead the way with a season-high 19 points, while Griffen added 17 points and seven assists. Texas A&M shot a season-best 58.2-percent from the field and 48.6-percent from beyond the arc. The Aggies connected on 39 field goals while dishing out 32 assists.
