Two Bryan men are in jail accused of multiple home burglaries last July, where the value of the stolen property exceeded $80,000 dollars. Bryan police say 18 year old Gabriel Santillan and 19 year old Waymon Richardson, who are not roommates according to jail records, hit homes on lazy Lane, Cavitt, Hillside, and Sulphur Springs. Richardson is also charged with a fifth break-in, a home on Valley Oaks. Jewelry, electronics, camera equipment, and guns were taken then sold at two pawn stores.
Bryan police arrested a Navasota woman for striking her boyfriend with her SUV. According to the arrest report, an officer saw 37 year old Elmar Gillespie fall Monday morning on Finfeather near Pease. Gillespie was taken to the hospital with a broken leg and a cut to the head. His girlfriend, 28 year old Lanita Lewis of Navasota, drove to the police department and after giving her statement was arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Lewis said they were parked outside a convenience store where he was waiting for a ride to work when her phone rang. Lewis said Gillespie assumed it was another man and said he hit her on the head then got out of the vehicle. She said she started driving towards him but said she swerved off the road trying to avoid hitting Gillespie. According to the arrest report, Lewis said Gillespie jumped trying to avoid being hit but wound up jumping into the path of the SUV. Then he was dragged on the pavement before she stopped and he fell to the ground.
A Bryan woman was arrested on four counts of taking more than $800 dollars from a debit card belonging to an elderly victim. 42 year old Nicole Pena is out of jail after posting a $40,000 dollar bond. Pena is accused of making cash withdrawals from an ATM and paying a BTU bill last December and January.
A Bryan man is accused of stealing checks from two accounts belonging to his grandmother and handing them out to seven friends. According to the arrest report, 18 year old John Pemberton told Bryan police he didn’t take the checkbooks and he doesn’t know any of the people who cashed 17 checks between January and August of last year, totaling almost $1,900 dollars. Pemberton remains in jail along with one of the seven recipients of the checks, 19 year old Charles Ogden of Millican. Bryan police has issued arrest warrants for four other local residents…18 year old Bryant Lisenbe, 19 year olds Avery Keese and Jaime Fuentes Junior, and 27 year old Nathan Burrell.
A Brenham woman sought by College Station police for the last month and a half has been found. 30 year old Erica Velez was arrested Monday night from a March 17th incident at Macy’s. According to the arrest report, what started as a shoplifting turned into a robbery because Velez struck an employee several times, including one blow where the victim’s glasses were knocked off…and trying to bite his face.
