An employee of the private company Texas A&M hired to do campus maintenance is accused of stealing copper from the energy utilities department on west campus. 44 year old Errol Jones of Normangee was caught on security video taking copper last week from a secured area where he had access as an employee of Secure Solutions. The arrest report from University police stated Jones sold 91 pounds of copper to a local metal recycler.
Wednesday afternoon, traffic was backed up on University between Texas and College after a load of concrete hit the pavement after slipping off a semi-trailer. A College Station policeman arrested a pedestrian for interfering with his attempt at traffic control. 21 year old Jeramie Ashton of College Station is accused of swearing at the officer more than 20 times, prompting two other officers to leave their posts to check what was happening. The arrest report also noted motorists stuck in traffic along University at Bizzell were taking their eyes off the road and yelling back at Ashton.
A brief power outage before sunrise Monday morning in Bryan was due to an accused drunk driver. A patrolman driving on Finfeather south of Villa Maria saw a bright flash then the street lights went out. The officer found a car that had struck a pole and brought down the electric lines. 22 year old Alfonso Medina of Bryan, who entered a guilty plea to DWI in May, is out of jail on bond following his arrest.
A former College Station resident who was hospitalized following a drug overdose in late September was arrested this week for possession of illegal drugs. Friends of 20 year old Brent Sijansky of Corpus Christi told police he had smoked marijuana and ingested cocaine, LSD, and alcohol before he became unconscious. According to the arrest report, officers found four illegal drugs. Sijansky, who was released from jail after posting bond, is awaiting trial from an arrest in August on another charge of possessing a controlled substance.
Three Brazos County sheriff’s deputies were involved in dealing with a disturbance Tuesday south of College Station in the Saddle Creek development. A Bryan man working on a new home site is accused of leaving and disrupting a next door neighbor. According to the arrest report, 22 year old Humberto Cazares also walked in front of a College Station ambulance, forcing the driver to make an abrupt stop. A supervisor thought Cazares was under the influence of lacquer thinner, which was being applied to cabinets in the new home. Cazares is also accused of running down the hallways in the emergency room screaming and yelling, where he had to be tackled and later shot with a Taser in order to be handcuffed. Cazares is out of jail on bond following his arrest for public intoxication and resisting arrest.
A disturbance Tuesday night in College Station turned out to be a case of domestic violence. Police report an ex-boyfriend broke the teeth of the woman’s new boyfriend, which required hospital treatment. The incident took place outside an apartment complex on Luther a block east of Wellborn. 22 year old Kanavious Jeffery of College Station was arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, which was described in the arrest report as some type of metal object.
