Bryan firefighters made two trips to a house fire on Beck Street, located between Milam and Jones schools. Deputy Fire Marshal William Bouse says the original call on Sunday, during rainy weather, was the result of the occupant lighting a barbecue pit under some eaves. The fire rekindled Monday after the fire got into the siding and in the attic. Bouse says the family is staying with relatives.
Another call on Monday was responding to a report of smoke and alarms being activated at the Sherwood nursing home on Memorial Drive. Bouse complemented the nursing home staff’s evacuation of its residents. Bouse says investigators with the fire department and the alarm company were not able to determine the source of the smoke.
No civilians or firefighters were injured.
