Rangers roll past Yanks; Astros rout the Angels

Yankees slugger Beltran leaves with tight hamstring

NEW YORK (AP) _ Cole Hamels breezed through seven shutout innings to win his fourth consecutive start, Adrian Beltre homered and drove in three runs, and the rolling Texas Rangers beat the New York Yankees 7-1 on Tuesday night.

One night after Texas rallied to win at 2:44 a.m. following a 3 1/2-hour rain delay in the ninth inning, the Rangers again played with plenty of spunk and energy. They’ve won four in a row and 12 of 14, improving the American League’s top record to 51-27 with their eighth straight victory away from home.

Yankees slugger Carlos Beltran left in the first with a tight right hamstring. He had an MRI that was “clean” and is day to day, manager Joe Girardi said.

Hamels (9-1) yielded six harmless singles and struck out seven. He threw only 86 pitches and outdueled CC Sabathia (5-5) in a matchup of accomplished left-handers.

Houston blasts Lincecum, routs Angels 7-1 for 9th win in 10

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) _ Carlos Correa hit a three-run homer in the first inning, and the Houston Astros beat Tim Lincecum and the Los Angeles Angels 7-1 on Tuesday night for their ninth win in 10 games.

Correa went 3 for 4 and matched his career high with four RBIs as Houston easily improved to 34-20 since May 1. The Astros also beat the Angels for the seventh straight time, their longest winning streak in the rivalry’s history.

Lincecum (1-2) couldn’t get through the fifth inning in his third start for the Angels, yielding seven hits, four walks and five runs. It was his second straight bumpy outing after a promising debut.

Scott Feldman (5-3) yielded three hits in five innings to win his first start since April 24 for the Astros.
