Rangers Fall in Season Finale; Astros Walk-off into the Postseason

The Texas Rangers wrapped up their season with a whimper Sunday, getting shutout by the Cleveland Indians, 6-0 at Globe Life Field in Arlington.

With the loss, Texas wraps up the year at 60-102, its worst record since 1973.

Down in Houston, 2021 American League Batting Champ Yuli Gurriel smacked an RBI single in the bottom of the ninth and the hometown Astros walked off against the Oakland Athletics, 7-6 at Minute Maid Park.

Gurriel captured his first batting title with a .319 batting average.

Houston, which had already sewn up the AL West, will kick-off its postseason run this Thursday when it hosts the Chicago White Sox for Game 1 of the ALDS.
