Proposed CS Charter Change Defining Council Conflict of Interest

An elected official…on occasion…will remove themselves from a meeting because they have a conflict of interest.

This November, College Station voters will consider a change in the definition.

The city charter currently requires a council member to step down when they have an INDIRECT financial interest on an issue. But the only way to define INDIRECT is court rulings. And Julie Schultz swayed a council majority to let voters consider changing to state law that does not use the “I” word.
