Proposed Capital Projects Presented to Bryan Council

Virtually no comments came from the Bryan city council yesterday/Tuesday about hundreds of millions of dollars of proposed projects.

Ann Horton provided the only observation, and that was supporting staff plans to start designing the rebuilding of Texas Avenue from University to Villa Maria. The project would include moving electric lines underground and landscaping, similar to Texas Avenue in College Station.

Public Works Director Jayson Barfknecht also recommended $7.8 million dollars of capital improvement projects (CIP) for next year. The list includes adding 875 plots at the city cemetery, along with rebuilding Washington and Old Kurten Road at the back of the cemetery.

The council will vote on the next CIP covering 2014 through 2018 on August 27.
