Progress Made in St. Michael’s School Fundraising

One week after officials of St. Michael’s Episcopal School in Bryan announced a six-digit financial hole, supporters have started appearing. Head of School Kate Lucchese says the school has received $40,000 dollars and more checks keep appearing.

A week ago, officials announced the need for $600,000 dollars to stay open. Through a variety of sources, Dr. Lucchese says there’s enough money to keep K through 11 open through December. One of the financial issues has been the economy.

St. Michael’s Facebook page notes the contributions do not include teachers and staff members who have donated half or all their September pay.

As previously reported, St. Michael’s pre-school will continue operating. Lucchese says seniors will complete the entire academic year and graduate. And an announcement will be made by the end of next week about the status of the remaining students.
