Progress Continues On Two College Station MUD’s

The College Station city council has updated its master plan for future annexation, including the creation of a second municipal utility district (MUD).

The second MUD, which could be considered by the council late next month, is the Millican Reserve master planned community off FM 2154. Most of that development is in the Navasota school district. College Station city manager Kelly Templin, who recently met with the landowner and CSISD’s superintendent, said the chances of trading land is “slim and none”.

It’s a situation that is familiar to mayor Nancy Berry.

The city’s first MUD, where the Texas World Speedway is being turned into 1,400 home lots and a retail area, has reached the stage of a strategic partnership agreement. Developers of Southern Pointe have approved it and it goes before the council a week from Monday. Councilman John Nichols asked to have the Southern Pointe board at the meeting on the 16th.

Planning and development director Lance Simms told the council the city would be allowed to annex Southern Pointe once 90 percent of the infrastructure has been built.
