A recent investor in downtown Bryan is adding to its portfolio.

Advent GX plans to put at least $2.5 million dollars into the former Icehouse building at North Main and Martin Luther King.

Mayor Jason Bienski says the commerce and development board, which is the city council, approved the agreement at its last meeting.

In return for not paying for the property, Advent GX has two years after closing to complete restoration.

At least 25 percent of the building will be used for retail and restaurants. Bienski says a microbrewery is also a possibility.

Advent GX interests in downtown Bryan includes the Innovation Underground business incubator, the SEAD gallery, the Grand Stafford Theater, and recruiting NASA’s backup for Houston’s mission control center.
