A Bryan man appeared in Brazos County district court this week (May 28) to admit to gunfire in March 2021 in downtown Bryan that struck two people and missed a third victim.

A plea agreement with the district attorney’s office resulted in 33 year old Michael Lee Robinson being sentenced to six years in prison for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and unlawful possession of a gun by a felon.

Jail records show Robinson had been out on bond since September of 2021 for the gunfire that took place outside a nightclub and a bar on North Bryan Avenue between 22nd and 23rd Streets.

One person was shot in the upper back and another was shot in the right shoulder blade.

This will be Robinson’s second trip to a state corrections facility. Court records show Robinson was sentenced to nine months in a state jail in April 2013 after violating probation following a conviction of felony criminal mischief. The incident in September 2009 resulted in Robinson beings ordered to pay restitution of $12,831.70.
