Prison and Probation for Possessing Child Pornography

A College Station man caught last year with over 64,000 pornographic images of children has learned his punishment.

The sentence for 39 year old Gregg Baird begins with 15 years in prison. That’s followed by ten years of probation that includes sex offender treatment.

Brazos County District Judge Travis Bryan was asked by Baird to place him on probation, while prosecutors sought a maximum 100 years in prison.

Baird pleaded guilty to ten of 100 counts of possessing child pornography. Judge Bryan was allowed to consider the remaining 90 counts for sentencing purposes.

Baird still has on appeal, a motion denied by Judge Bryan that Baird did not give permission for a housesitter to use his home computer. One image found on that computer led authorities to the discovery of the remaining pictures on two computers and additional electronic storage devices.
