Pregnant Woman Dies on Rodeo Trail Ride

HOUSTON (AP) _ A pregnant woman who was among a group of Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo trail riders has died from apparent carbon monoxide poisoning after fumes from a generator apparently seeped into the trailer where she was sleeping.

Four other females, aged 13 to 19, were taken to area hospitals and are recovering from carbon monoxide poisoning, officials said Monday.

The 19-year-old woman, who was five months pregnant, was discovered shortly before 9 a.m. Sunday in the trailer at a Waller County camp site being used by the Prairie View Trail Ride Group, the Houston Chronicle reported. Her name has not been released. The child she was carrying did not survive, Waller County sheriff’s officials said.

An autopsy has been ordered to confirm the cause of death. Sheriff’s officials do not expect any criminal charges to be filed.
