Pet Reminders for July 4th

Many people will include fireworks in their Fourth of July plans.

Leiha White from Aggieland Humane Society reminds pet owners that dogs, cats and even livestock do not mix well with fireworks.

“Make some plans to get your pets inside because people start setting off fireworks, that really does a number on your dogs, cats and even your livestock, so just keep that in mind,” said White.

White said to secure your pets inside if possible and give them something to distract them.

“A toy, turn on the music, something else that drowns out what is happening outside,” said White.

July 4th is the number one day for missing pets across the country because fireworks can spook them into running away.
