Paper: Mexico Suspends Search for Missing Man

McALLEN, Texas (AP) _ A South Texas newspaper is reporting that Mexico has suspended its search for David Hartley indefinitely.

The McAllen, Texas, man has been the subject of a search since his wife reported him missing Sept. 30 after he was shot by gunmen in a boat on the Mexican side of Falcon Lake, on the Texas-Mexico border.

The Monitor of McAllen reports the suspension in a copyright story, citing Tamaulipas state attorney general’s office spokesman Ruben Dario Rios Lopez. The spokesman said officials in Mexico “are going to look into new strategies between both U.S. and Mexican authorities in order to see what we can do, because up to now we have not been able to recover the body of this person.”

Messages to Texas Gov. Rick Perry weren’t returned.
