Packers and Steelers coming to Jerry-World

Super Bowl 45 will be a battle of teams who have collected a few rings before as the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Green Bay Packers both won the conference titles yesterday.

The Steelers are going to their 8th Super Bowl and their third in the last six years after hanging on to beat the Jets 24-19 yesterday. It wasn’t pretty for Pittsburgh as they had a quick 24-0 lead and let the Jets score the next 19 points but a third-down pass from Ben Rothlisbereger to Antonio Brown with 1:21 left gave the Steelers a first down and denied the Jets a last possession.

In Chicago, the Green Bay Packers earn a chance for their fourth Super Bowl win but their first since 1996. The beat the Bears 21-14 in the 182nd meeting between these two rivals. Chicago quarterback Jay Cutler went out with a knee injury in the third quarter and third stringer Caleb Hanie was making progress until he threw a ball right to Green Bay’s lineman B.J. Raji who trotted 18 yards to the endzone for a pick-6 that shut the door. The Packers’ Aaron Rodgers threw for 244 yards and has led his team to the Super Bowl just 3 years after taking over for Brett Favre.

The Packers are an early 2 ½ point favorite for the game at Cowboys Stadium on Feb. 6th.
