One Hurt in Beaumont Bank Robbery

BEAUMONT, Texas (AP) _ Beaumont police searched for a gunman after a bank robbery in which a customer was wounded by a ricocheting bullet.

Police say a branch of Wachovia Bank was robbed at 4:45 p.m. Thursday by a man wearing a bandanna over his face.

A Hummer believed used by the gunman to flee was discovered abandoned Thursday night. Officer Jeff Curl said Friday that the vehicle had been reported stolen.

The wounded customer, Mage McMillan, told KFDM-TV that he was about five feet away when the robber fired a shot that ricocheted off a counter and the floor. The bullet struck McMillian in the elbow.

Paramedics treated McMillian at the scene, placing a bandage on the superficial wound.

Investigators did not say how much money was stolen.
