More on-street parking in College Station’s Northgate district has been removed due to safety concerns.

The city council unanimously agreed to a request from the owners of apartment parking garages and larger parking lots.

Assistant community services director Gus Roman showed photos to the council where parked vehicles blocks the view of those leaving parking areas at four intersections.

One owner of Northgate businesses opposed removing parking spaces. Roman said other businessowners understood the safety concern but did not like the decision.

There is a two to four week period of educating motorists and giving warnings before tickets are issued.
