The Texas Department of Transportation plans to seek bids next fall on changing the layout of streets in the Northgate area.
Over the summer, College Station officials thought they reached the same design decision with the state.
But there are problems according to Chris Scotti of the Northgate Merchants Association. Speaking at the last city council meeting, Scotti says one of the issues involved raised curbs.
Comments from Chris Scotti.
The TxDOT official in charge, Bob Appleton, says their design has always included the raised curb for pedestrians at the intersection of University and College Main.
Scotti also told the council TxDOT cancelled meetings with Northgate merchants during the first three months of next year and called for all input to be collected by the end of December.
More from Chris Scotti.
Appleton says he does not recall agreeing to Scotti’s schedule and that businesses and other stakeholders have met numerous times regarding the project design.
