Athletes Unlimited Softball League (AUSL) Game Tonight at Davis Diamond To Determine Championship Matchup
The Athletes Unlimited Softball Leagues, or AUSL, has brought their 2026 Championship to College Station. The play-in-game starts at 8:00pm tonight (Thursday) at Texas A&M’s Davis Diamond, the home of Aggie Softball. Tonight’s play-in matchup features the Chicago Bandits and the Portland Cascade, and three former Aggie Softballers. Kennedy Powell and Tori Vidales play for the Portland Cascade, and Mac Barbara is on the roster for the Chicago Bandits. The winner of tonight’s game will take on the Utah Talons in a best-of-three series. Game One will be Saturday at Noon. Game Two will be Sunday at 1:00pm. And if necessary, Game Three will take place on Monday at 6:00pm. Tickets for games one and two are sold out, but tickets for tonight’s play-in game and game three are available at 12thman.com.
Eggs Sold At Kroger and Brookshire Brothers in Texas Recalled for Potential Salmonella
Midwest Poultry Services, L.P. announced yesterday that it is voluntarily recalling 1,589,577 dozen white shell eggs and brown cage free shell eggs produced in Texas because they have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella Enteritidis. Salmonella is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis. The eggs were produced and distributed from farms in Texas between June 6, 2026 and July 3, 2026, with sell by or best by dates between July 20, 2026 and August 17, 2026. The eggs were shipped to foodservice and retail customers in Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana. They were available to consumers at Kroger stores in Texas and Louisiana, Brookshire Grocery stores in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, and Mississippi, and other smaller retail outlets. No other Midwest Poultry Services, L.P. products are part of this recall. Midwest Poultry Services L.P. is not aware of any specific illnesses linked to its products. The recalled eggs will have an identifying code number printed on the left or right sides of the carton in date-coding ink only. Only codes P-1950 or 0840962 with a Julian Date between 157 and 184 printed on the side of the carton are recalled. Charles Medina Facing New Charges After Killing Hannah Rapp
The man arrested after hitting Hannah Rapp with his car as she rode her bicycle along FM 159 on July 18, 2026, is facing new charges. 31-year-old Charles Medina was arrested and charged with manslaughter immediately after Rapp’s death. On Wednesday, the District Attorney’s office added a charge of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. Records show that the new charge was added for Medina’s use of his vehicle as a deadly weapon as he reversed towards Rapp’s fiancé, William Pollalis. The bond for aggravated assault is $500,000 and the bond for manslaughter is $250,000. With bond revocations for outstanding charges prior to Rapp’s death, which include criminal mischief and deadly conduct discharge of a firearm out of Grimes County, Medina is being held on $1,029,000 bond. He is scheduled to make his first court appearance on July 28, 2026.
