No. 7 A&M Women’s Swimming and Diving Close Out Season at Rice

HOUSTON – The No. 7-ranked Texas A&M women’s swimming and diving team will close out the fall portion of its 2015-16 season with a 12 noon dual meet against the Rice Owls at the outdoor Rice Competition Pool.

The Aggies are coming off a winning team effort at the Art Adamson Invitational two weeks ago at the Student Recreation Center. A&M out-distanced the field with 1,166 points, which was far ahead of ranked opponents, No. 5 Stanford and No. 25 LSU.

Texas A&M rolled up over 60 NCAA “A” or “B” qualifying cuts over the three-day fall invitational, while grabbing individual wins in six individual events. JuniorSarah Gibson won the 500 free and the 1,650 free, junior Madison Hudkins was victorious in the one- and three-meter dives and sophomore Beryl Gastaldello posted wins in the 50 free and the 100 butterfly. For her efforts, Hudkins was named Southeastern Conference Diver of the Week.

While swimming at the long course meters distances in the morning sessions, the Aggies totaled an impressive 28 U.S. Olympic Trials qualifying cuts at the Art Adamson Invitational.
