No. 4 Texas A&M Softball Run-Rules Prairie View A&M

News release from Texas A&M Athletics:

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The No. 5 Texas A&M softball team run-ruled Prairie View A&M, 10-0, Wednesday night at Davis Diamond.

After a scoreless opening frame, Texas A&M (32-5) threatened first in the second inning as Koko Wooley reached on a walk and stole second before advancing to third on a throwing error by the catcher. Wooley put the Aggies on the board after coming home on a single from KK Dement. Kennedy Powell followed with an RBI single up the middle to score Dement, to give the Maroon & White a 2-0 advantage after the second.

Mac Barabara doubled the score in the third after she belted her 50th career home run with a two-run moonshot to center field to make it 4-0. The Aggies dealt crooked numbers, adding three more runs after Allie Enright scored on a wild pitch, followed by RBI singles from Powell and Amari Harper, to increase the lead 7-0.

Prairie View A&M (16-14) continued to give free passes as the Aggies loaded the bases in the fourth and entered run-rule territory on an RBI walk by Dement. After hitting a single earlier in the frame, Kelsey Mathis came home on a wild pitch before a sacrifice fly from Kylei Griffin scored Scout Lovell to make it a 10-0 game.

Aggie pitchers shutout the Panthers as starter Grace Sparks earned her seventh win of the season ending the night allowing only one hit and striking out two batters. Emily Leavitt and Sydney Lessentine each made appearances adding two more strikeouts a piece, halting any attempt for a Prairie View A&M comeback.
