SAN MARCOS – Riding a five-game win streak, the No. 4 Texas A&M baseball team (25-3) hits the road to face Texas State (15-13) in midweek action Tuesday night at 6 p.m. from Bobcat Ballpark.
Tuesday’s contest will be streamed on ESPN+ and can be heard locally on SportsRadio 1150AM/93.7 The Zone. Fans can also follow along with the game on X, @AggieBaseball.
Tuesday’s midweek marks the 63rd meeting all-time between the Aggies and Bobcats. The Maroon & White lead the series 48-14 and have won nine of the last 10 contests. On the road, Texas A&M is 8-3 against Texas State.
In midweek action, the Aggies are a perfect 7-0 on the year. The road midweek battle marks the second of the year for the Maroon & White.
The Aggie pitching staff currently ranks first nationally in shutouts (6), second in ERA (3.27), second in strikeout-to-walk ratio (3.85), third in WHIP (1.16), sixth in strikeouts per nine (11.9), eighth in walks allowed per nine (3.08) and 10th in hits allowed per nine (7.37).
Texas A&M will send RHP Luke Jackson to the mound in Tuesday’s contest. The redshirt freshman will be making his second consecutive midweek start.
Offensively, the Maroon & White sit second nationally in walks (204), ninth in home runs (56), ninth in on-base percentage (.438), 10th in home runs per game (2.00), 14th in slugging percentage (.557) and 18th in runs (249). In the field, Texas A&M ranks seventh in the country in fielding percentage with a .984 mark.
The Aggies have arguably the best 1-2-3 lineup punch in all of college baseball in Gavin Grahovac, Jace LaViolette and
Braden Montgomery. The trio has combined for 113 of the Aggies 236 RBI on the year.
Entering the week, Montgomery, who was named the SEC Player of the Week, leads the nation with 47 RBI and sits second in home runs with 16. The junior also ranks third nationally in total bases (98), third in RBI per game (1.68), fourth in home runs per game (0.57) and fifth in slugging percentage (0.933).
LaViolette currently ranks third in the SEC in runs scored (40), fourth in homers (13), fifth in homers per game (0.46) 10th in RBI (32) and 10th in slugging percentage (.784). Grahovac has turned in a stellar freshman campaign thus far, ranking ninth in the SEC in RBI with 34.
