College Station ISD school board members get requests to add a third athletic trainer and a second choir director at Consolidated and College Station High schools. CSISD athletics director Kevin Starnes says two athletic trainers at each high school last fall worked 12 to 16 hour days administering a total of 4,800 treatments for injured athletes. CSISD fine arts director Eric Eaks says they are the only one in their 15 district region with one choir director at each high school. College Station High has 138 choir students and Consolidated High has 146 students. Superintendent Tim Harkrider supports the additions, as does at least three board members. Bryan ISD School Board Gives Authority For The Superintendent To Negotiate Bond Funded Contracts With Contractors And Engineers

Bryan ISD school board members give the superintendent the authority to negotiate nine contracts involving the $397 million dollar bond issue that voters approved last November. Seven contracts are with companies providing architectural services and two are with companies providing engineering services. Deputy superintendent Brian Merrell says more than 20 architects and more than 20 engineering companies submitted proposals. Then an eight person team that reviewed all the candidates then interviewed 11 of the architectural firms and five or six engineering firms. Before the interviews, Merrell said campus principals were contacted to get their input. The board’s unanimous vote followed an update on the bond issue at their February 2nd meeting. Burleson County’s Sheriff Reminds Motorists About The Traffic Signal At FM 60 And FM 50

New traffic signals on FM 60 at FM 50 between the Brazos River and Snook has reduced the number of crashes at that intersection. Burleson County sheriff Bill Rios said on Tuesday’s Facebook report (February 17) the drop was from nine collisions to five. The timing of his update was hours after the latest collision, which did not result in any injuries. Rios also reminded motorists to obey the slow down or move over law while driving past crashes or other times when going by first responders and others covered by the law.
