Texas A&M Women’s Tennis Run Home Court Win Streak to 75 Matches

The No. 2 Texas A&M women’s tennis team wrapped up a perfect opening weekend with 7-0 victories over the Air Force Falcons and Sam Houston Bearkats in Sunday’s action at Mitchell Tennis Center. Texas A&M (4-0) stretched its home win streak to 75 matches.

The Aggies made quick work of Air Force in doubles action. The No. 76 tandem of Violeta Martinez/Anna Perelman posted a 6-2 victory over Yule Kang/Sofia Mavor on court 2, 6-0 and Mia Kupres/Lucciana Perez toppled Abby Cotuna/Maya Michalski, 6-3.

Texas A&M inflated the cushion over the Falcons to 3-0 as Perez and Lexington Reed finished swiftly on court 2 and court 3, respectively. Perez beat Mavor, 6-1, 6-0, while Reed topped Michalski, 6-0, 6-1.

No. 38 Kupres clinched the victory over Tulane with a 6-2, 6-1 triumph over Cotuna on court 1. The teams played out the remainder of the matches with Martinez victorious on court 5, Anna Perelman winning on court 6 and No. 83 Daria Smetannikov sealing the shutout on court 4.

The Aggies posted 6-2 doubles wins on both court 3 with Martinez/Perlman and court 1 with Perez/Tilde Stromquist to start the Sam Houston match.

Texas A&M outscored the Bearkats 72-18 in singles play. Reed posted a double-bagel on court 2, topping Anamaria Kurtsikashvili, 6-0, 6-0, and Stromquist knocked off Aaliyah Hohmann, 6-0, 6-1 on court 6. Smetannikov put the match in the bag with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Sara Sadadinovic on court 4. Perelman (court 5), Perez (court 6) and Martinez (court 3) finished off their matches to record a 4-0 weekend in singles play.

The Aggies continue action at Mitchell Tennis Center on ITA Kickoff Weekend. The Maroon & White host Michigan State in a noon contest.
