No. 19 Texas A&M Baseball Routs Prairie View A&M

News release from Texas A&M Athletics:

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The No. 19 Texas A&M baseball team run-ruled Prairie View A&M 14-0 in seven innings Tuesday evening in midweek action at Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park.

Starter Weston Moss secured the win after tossing three scoreless frames to go along with three strikeouts. In relief, Grant Cunningham, Gavin Lyons, Isaac Morton and Kaiden Wilson all worked a scoreless inning to close out the victory.

Terrence Kiel II led the charge offensively with a 3-for-4 performance to go along with two runs, two RBI and two stolen bases. Hayden Schott joined Kiel with a multi-hit game of his own as the designated hitter went 2-for-4 with two RBI. In total, five different batters recorded a multi-RBI game for the Aggies (10-6) in the win.

After Moss retired the Panthers (4-13) in order in the first, the Maroon & White opened the scoring in the bottom half with an RBI single from Wyatt Henseler. The junior later came around to score on an RBI single from Kiel as Texas A&M led 2-0.

Kaeden Kent added to the lead in the second with a sacrifice fly and Schott made it 4-0 in the third with an RBI single up the middle.

The Aggies broke the game open in the fourth with a seven-run frame as five different batters recorded an RBI. Following a Jace LaViolette hit-by-pitch and a Henseler walk with the bases loaded, Gavin Kash found the gap in right center to bring home a pair of runs with a double. Kiel and Schott followed with RBI singles before Jamal George plated the final run of the frame on a sacrifice fly.

LaViolette extended the lead to 12-0 in the fifth with a solo shot over the Prairie View A&M bullpen in right. The junior’s fifth long ball of the season left the bat at 111 mph and traveled 375 feet. Later in the frame, an error by the Panthers allowed the 13th run of the night to cross the plate for Texas A&M.

A Sam Erickson sacrifice fly in the sixth accounted for the final run of the night as the Aggies went on to win 14-0.
