AUSTIN – The No. 13 Texas A&M men’s basketball team couldn’t hold off the Texas Longhorns down the stretch and dropped a 70-69 decision on Saturday at the Moody Center.
With the loss, the Aggies fell to 15-5 overall and 4-3 in SEC play, while the Longhorns improved to 14-6 and 3-4.
The Aggies led by as many as 22 early in the second half, but the Longhorns chipped away at the A&M advantage and took their first lead of the game on a layup by Tramon Mark with :03 remaining. The Aggies tried to counter at the buzzer but the 3-point attempt was just off.
Wade Taylor IV led the Aggies with 15 points with five 3-pointers and also had three steals and three assists. Joining him in double figures was Manny Obaseki with 13 points on 5-of-8 shooting.
No Aggie had more than five rebounds but pulled down 43 as a team, including 18 off the offensive glass, and had a 16-board advantage for the game. Andersson Garcia, Henry Coleman III and Zhuric Phelps all grabbed team-high five boards and four other Aggies had three or more rebounds.
