HOUSTON (AP) _ A woman who fled to Nigeria after a fire at her Houston home day care center killed four children is set for her first court appearance since being arrested and returned to Texas.
Jessica Tata was scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday afternoon in Houston. Tata, who’s held without bond at a Houston jail, is facing 14 charges, including manslaughter.
The 22-year-old day care operator, who has both U.S. and Nigerian citizenship, had fled to the West Africa country two days after the Feb. 24 fire, which also injured three children.
She was arrested by Interpol agents on Saturday and returned to the U.S. on Monday. After a stop in Atlanta, she was flown back to Houston early Tuesday morning.
