Bryan city officials have announced hours and services when it takes over the animal shelter. The Finfeather Road center will be open Thursday and Friday afternoon from 4 until 6 p.m. and only to those who are looking for a lost pet. The shelter will be closed to the public Saturday, Sunday, and Labor Day Monday. Next Tuesday, shelter hours will expand to weekdays from noon until 6 p.m. And until further notice, the shelter will take only cash and checks for payment.
Deputy City Manager Hugh Walker says the staff of four employees have been hired. One starts Thursday, two more begins the Tuesday after Labor Day, and the manager on September 12th.

Bryan city employees started preparing for the transition after the Brazos Animal Shelter missed a July 29th contract deadline to continue staffing the city facility until the city financed a new building on shelter property.
