Tuesday morning, Navasota ISD named Patrick Goodman as the new athletic director and head football coach for Navasota.
Goodman served as the head basketball coach for the past six years and was part of the football program for the last 11 seasons as the defensive secondary coach.
Before coming to Navasota, Goodman had coaching stops at Georgetown, Brownwood, Lubbock Monterrey and Mineral Wells.

This morning, Navasota ISD Superintendent Rory Gesch announced Patrick Goodman as the new athletic director and head football coach for Navasota. Coach Goodman has been with the Rattlers for the last 11 years as the defensive secondary coach and was an integral part of both 16-0 state championship runs. Goodman also served as the head basketball coach for the past 6 years, during that time the Rattlers posted 6 straight district championships and two regional final appearances.
NISD superintendent, Rory Gesch stated, “I have always had a great respect for Patrick. I’ve known him to be a man of character and professionalism. He has high expectations for himself and for the people around him. I have the utmost confidence in his ability to take over the Rattler Athletic program and to continue the culture of success for our student athletes.”
Prior to coming to Navasota, the Texas Tech University graduate had coaching stops at Georgetown, Brownwood, Lubbock Monterrey and Mineral Wells. While at Brownwood, Coach Goodman was part of the staff under Texas High School Hall of Fame Coach, W. T. Stapler. Goodman also played under Stapler at Sweetwater High School, where he was part of the 1985 Class 4A Football State Championship team.
Coach Goodman is married to Crystal Goodman and they have two daughters and one son. Dev’n, a graduate of Navasota High School is currently an educator in Fort Worth, S’dney is currently a junior at Navasota High School, and son Freddie, is a coach at Palestine High School.
