A national organization is offering a $10,000 reward for information about an animal cruelty case in Robertson County. Wayne Pacelle, President of Animal Wellness Action, says a good samaritan found a severely injured dog and brought it to a veterinarian.
“The lower part of the jaw was basically hanging on by a thread, a little piece of sinew. There was a hole in the dog’s chest,” says Pacelle.

Pacelle says the veterinarian believes the injuries were caused by an explosive device or a firework and euthanasia was the only humane option. He says this kind of behavior is an indication of someone who has lost empathy and could repeat the action.
“Other animals victimized, but it could also be a spouse, could be a child, could be a member of the community. We know that the evidence is rock solid in the sociological literature that people start on malicious acts of cruelty on animals and they often move on to people,” says Pacelle.
If you have information on who may be responsible for this crime, contact the Robertson County Sheriff’s Office at (979) 828-3299. You can also contact Animal Wellness Action through their Facebook page.
