Multiple divisions of the College Station police department respond to a reported family violence assault that ended with the suspect barricading himself in the apartment he shared with the victim.

CSPD’s Facebook page says the suspect eventually exited the apartment and 29 year old Jose Cruz-Serrano was arrested.

The victim told officers according to the CSPD arrest report that the assault took place in a vehicle parked at Brothers Pond Park. The victim said Serrano struck her, resulting in losing sight in her left eye. The victim also said Serrano banged an eight inch serrated steak knife on the vehicle console multiple times and threatened to stab her in the neck.

Responding Friday night (August 29) to the apartment on Balcones Drive south of Georgie Fitch park were CSPD patrol officers and the SWAT, hostage negotiation, K-9, and drone teams.

An undisclosed number of children who were in the apartment with Serrano were not injured.

Serrano, who was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, was jailed as of August 30th in lieu of a $100,000 dollar bond as requested by the arresting officer.

The arrest report also included the officer’s bond request, telling the judge that Serrano pleaded guilty in 2023 to two cases of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and one case of continuous violence against the family in Walker County and one case in Waller County of making a terroristic threat causing fear of imminent serious bodily injury.
