More Traffic Control Is Coming To Holleman and Harvey Mitchell Parkway Area

Hundreds of more student apartments under construction in the area of Holleman and Harvey Mitchell Parkway has resulted in more traffic control.

At Holleman and Market, the first intersection south of Harvey Mitchell which feeds traffic in and out of the apartments, a traffic signal should be activated next week.

That’s in addition to the developer building an additional left turn lane on Holleman to allow more vehicles to turn left headed towards George Bush Drive.

And the council at its last meeting approved a ban on U-turns on Holleman at Market, a four way stop sign on Market right before Holleman, and a no parking zone in the area.

Before the unanimous votes, councilman John Nichols pointed out in a conversation with city traffic engineer Troy Rother what could have been done to plan streets before apartment construction began.
