This week’s revelation of Austin-based Chuy’s Restaurant coming to College Station is the tip of the iceberg.
Economic Development Director David Gwin says at Post Oak Mall, three stand-alone restaurants will be building on the parking lot, the first being Chuy’s.

Construction is expected to begin on the Wellborn Road / George Bush Drive intersection improvement project in spring 2026. Dr. Susan Ballabina, Chief of Staff to Texas A&M’s president, says both the campus community and the local community will be impacted. “It will be disruptive because we all are used to driving through there,” says Dr. Ballabina. The Texas A&M transportation institute has started gathering public feedback through an online survey. “To hear from people about their thoughts on how to redirect and what other routes to use,” says Dr. Ballabina. Geotechnical investigative efforts, which were scheduled to start this weekend in preparation for the project have been postponed due to last weekend’s heavy rainfall. College Station city administrators hold their first public discussion with the city council about the idea of charging $25 dollars for people to park on some city streets and some city owned parking lots around Kyle Field for the upcoming George Strait concert and soccer game between Mexico and Brazil. A majority of council members had no opposition. Subject to council approval, paid parking would include more than 1,600 spaces in the Southside neighborhood and almost 1,200 in city owned parking lots. Community services director Debbie Eller said city employees would contact affected residents, who would also have to pay to park on streets by their homes. Councilman Bob Yancy estimated that if the paid parking also applied to the upcoming Texas A&M football season, the city would generate gross revenue of almost $1 million dollars. Another event is returning after the pandemic. For the first time since 2019, the Bryan police department is offering a junior police academy for high school students. Officer Seth Waller says participants in the two week program will be exposed to BPD’s various divisions. Waller also says BPD uses the academy in part as a recruiting tool. The first day, June 10th, is an orientation day and the last day, June 21st, is a graduation program. Click HERE to be directed to more information from the Bryan police department.
