Texas A&M athletics announces more recognition for quarterback Marcel Reed.

Reed received weekly honors from the Davey O’Brien Great 8 and Manning Award Stars organizations.

Texas A&M’s Marcel Reed received Davey O’Brien Great 8 and Manning Award Stars of the Week accolades for his strong performance in the No. 3 Aggies’ 49-25 road victory over then-No. 20 LSU, the organizations announced on Monday.

Reed, a redshirt sophomore quarterback from Nashville, logged his first career game with two passing and rushing touchdowns as he accounted for four scores against the Tigers. He was the first Aggie to tally a pair of rushing and passing scores in a true road game since Johnny Manziel did it against Auburn in his Heisman Trophy season in 2012. Reed rushed for a career-high 108 rushing yards on 13 carries while passing for 202 yards on 12-of-21 attempts for a total offense output of 310 yards.

For the season, Reed ranks second in the SEC and No. 11 nationally in total offense with 2,321 yards (290.1 per game) and stands second in the league and ninth nationally in touchdowns responsible for with 23 (17 pass / 6 rush). In SEC games only, Reed is tied for the SEC lead with 13 touchdowns responsible for and is tied for third with 11 passing touchdowns. Reed has completed 137-of-223 passes (61.4%) for 1,972 yards and rushed for 349 yards on 64 attempts for the full season.
