Money Saving Change in Senior Citizen Lunch Program

Each month in Brazos and three neighboring counties, nearly 7,000 meals are served to senior citizens through a pair of government programs administered by the Brazos Valley Community Action Agency.

This is the first full week recipients are getting reheated frozen meals instead of made from scratch. Brazos County Judge Duane Peters says the switch keeps anyone from being eliminated.

Comments from Duane Peters.

Had the switch not been made, 11 hundred fewer meals would have served to seniors in Brazos, Burleson, Grimes, and Robertson counties due to lack of funding.
