Monday Night Fires in Bryan and West of College Station

Three fire departments responded to a structure fire Monday night at Brazos Valley Recycling west of College Station. Fire District Four Chief Joe Ondrasek says the fire was in the rear of a building housing a wood chipper.

Ondrasek says they were assisted by South Brazos County, the city of Bryan, and a fire hydrant installed by the recycling company.

One firefighter suffered heat exhaustion and spent Monday night in the hospital for observation. The city of Bryan and South Brazos County assisted.

Bryan firefighters were also out Monday night at a house fire east of downtown at 815 East 28th. Fire Marshal William Bouse says the fire started on the front porch and destroyed the front half of the one-story wood frame structure.

Bouse was among the investigators returning Tuesday to home at 28th and Hutchins.

The family of three adults and one child was displaced but no one was injured.
