OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) _ Jordan Lyles pitched seven innings for his first win in nearly two months, Brandon Barnes doubled twice and drove in two runs, and the
Houston Astros beat the Oakland Athletics 5-4 on Tuesday to snap a six-game losing streak.

Juan Castro singled in the fifth to extend his hitting streak to a career-high 11 games, scored a run and added a sacrifice fly for Houston. Matt Dominguez
added two hits, including one of four doubles off A’s starter Bartolo Colon, who lost in his second bid to become the first pitcher in major league history to
win 15 games with four American League teams.

Yoenis Cespedes singled, doubled and homered for Oakland, which nearly won the game on Chris Young’s long foul ball that was reviewed, but missed a chance to
move percentage points ahead of Texas in the AL West.

BREWERS-RANGERS

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) _ Scooter Gennett homered twice, Marco Estrada worked six solid innings and the Milwaukee Brewers beat Texas 5-1 on Tuesday night, ending
the Rangers’ eight-game winning streak.

Khris Davis also homered for the Brewers. His solo shot in the seventh ricocheted high off the left-field pole and chased Alexi Ogando.

Gennett, a 23-year-old rookie second baseman listed at 157 pounds and playing only his 26th major league game, led off the third pulling a ball into the
second deck of seats in right field.

Then in the fifth, the Brewers’ No. 9 batter hit a two-run homer that landed in the seats under that for a 3-1 lead.

Estrada allowed one run and four hits against AL West-leading Texas, which was coming off its first 9-1 trip in team history.

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) _ The Texas Rangers have added infielder Adam Rosales to the 25-man roster, and optioned outfielder Engel Beltre to Triple-A Round Rock.

Rosales reported Tuesday to the Rangers, who reacquired the infielder on a waiver claim from AL West rival Oakland for the second time in 10 days.

Texas initially claimed Rosales from Oakland on Aug. 2, and added him to the active roster that day. He didn’t play any of the three games he was with the
team and was designated for assignment on Aug. 5 when the Rangers had to make other roster moves following a 50-game suspension for Nelson Cruz.

Rosales was reclaimed by the Athletics, and he played one game before being designated for assignment again on Saturday.

RANGERS-CRUZ

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) _ Suspended Rangers slugger Nelson Cruz is heading home to the Dominican Republic, where he will work out before returning to Texas
later this month.

General manager Jon Daniels said Tuesday that Cruz will spend about 12 days in the Dominican. The All-Star right fielder has a home gym and will visit the
team’s complex there.

Cruz was suspended for the final 50 games of the regular season in Major League Baseball’s investigation into a Florida clinic accused of distributing banned
performance-enhancing drugs. He was one of 13 MLB players disciplined last week.

The Rangers want Cruz to stay in as good of baseball shape as possible, but Daniels says no decision has been made about Cruz playing in the postseason if
Texas makes the playoffs.

RANGERS-MANNY RAMIREZ RELEASED

Manny Ramirez released from minor deal by Rangers

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) _ Manny Ramirez has been released from his minor league contract by the Texas Rangers.

The 41-year-old Ramirez hit .259 with three home runs and 13 RBIs in 30 games for Triple-A Round Rock after agreeing to a deal early last month. He hit all of
the homers in the first eight games.

Rangers general manager Jon Daniels said Tuesday that Ramirez was released so he could pursue other opportunities if he chooses.

Daniels said, based on the team’s evaluation, there wasn’t a spot on the Rangers roster for Ramirez.

The 12-time All-Star is a .312 career hitter, and is 14th on the career home runs list with 555. He started out the season playing in Taiwan.
