An alert employee at a Bryan check cashing business resulted in police making three arrests. Friday afternoon at the Ace Cash Express on South Texas, an employee told police two men were trying to cash checks with two spelling errors. One was Texas spelled T-E-A-X-S. That led to the arrests of two Houston men, 44 year old Randy Bishop and 26 year old Jhabai Franklin, on forgery charges. A third Houston man waiting in their parked SUV was arrested for a bond forfeiture from Harris County and marijuana possession.
For the sixth time since last November, a Plantersville man has been arrested by law enforcement in Brazos County. College Station police responded Friday during the noon hour to the mall. An off duty Grimes County sheriff’s deputy reported she, two store employees, and a witness were chasing a man who stole a pair of $160 dollar Air Jordan’s from Champs. 23 year old Cody Byrd was caught when he was tackled by an assistant manager. According to the arrest report, Byrd also had marijuana and 37 pills containing ecstasy. Byrd, who is awaiting trial on a criminal mischief charge in Bryan, was arrested in May for a residential burglary. He served 60 days in jail for two counts of driving with a suspended license. And he was arrested twice on the freeway for speeding after being clocked at 87 and 95 miles per hour.
