Missing Rio Grande Valley Girl Found Safe

BROWNSVILLE, Texas (AP) _ A 14-year-old Rio Grande Valley girl has been rescued and her alleged abductor jailed after the girl was taken from her front yard.

The alleged abduction happened in the small Cameron County town of Primera on Monday. Investigators say two masked men jumped from behind trees, dragged Diana Izaguirre into a black car and drove away.

Primera police Sgt. Joe Rodriguez says Brownsville police got a telephone tip Tuesday that led them to a Brownsville motel. There, they saw two people get into a car and drive away. Police stopped the car and found Izaguirre and 27-year-old Victor Garcia inside.

Rodriguez says the girl is now safe and uninjured. Brownsville spokesman Jimmy Manrrique tells KGBT-TV in Harlingen that Garcia’s in city jail on a marijuana possession charge and under questioning about the alleged abduction.
