Men’s Golf Announces 2013-14 Schedule

COLLEGE STATION – Entering the year riding the nation’s longest streak of six straight top-15 finishes at the NCAA Championship, the Texas A&M men’s golf team has revealed its 2013-14 schedule.

The well-traveled Aggies will compete on some of the nation’s top courses in the upcoming year as they are staled to compete in 10 states and every time zone in the United States, except the Alaskan Time Zone.

The season gets underway on Sept. 7 when the team travels to the Atlantic Golf Club on Long Island to face Yale in a dual match before taking part in the Dick’s Sporting Goods SEC/ACC Challenge at the Golf Club of Tennessee in Nashville on Sept. 20-22.

In October, Texas A&M will conclude its fall schedule beginning with the Jerry Pate Intercollegiate in Birmingham, Ala., on Oct. 7-8. For the sixth straight season, the Aggies will take part in the U.S. Collegiate Championship in Alpharetta, Ga., on Oct. 18-20, before returning to Texas to round out the month at the Royal Oaks Intercollegiate in Dallas on Oct. 28-29.

Back on the links in February, the Aggies will head east to compete on one of golf’s most iconic courses when they tee off at TPC Sawgrass during the Sea Best Invitational Feb. 3-4. Following the Florida trip, the Aggies will trade the Atlantic coastline for the Pacific when they travel west for the John A. Burns Invitational on Wailua Golf Course in Kauai, Hawai’i, Feb. 19-21.

March will see Texas A&M participate in a trio of tournaments, beginning March 7-9 in Las Vegas during the Southern Highlands Collegiate. The West Coast swing continues the next weekend, March 14-16, when the Aggies take their swings at the National Invitational Tournament in Tucson, Ariz. The month concludes in Florida on March 25-26 at the Floridian Invitational hosted by the Floridian Resort and Country Club in West Palm Beach, Fla.

Texas A&M will host its lone home tournament of the year April 5-6 when the Aggie Invitational gets underway at Traditions Golf Club. This season will mark the eighth time that A&M has hosted the tournament which has become one of college golf’s highest-attended events and features some of the country’s top teams and individuals, many who will one day go on to star on the PGA Tour.

During its final regular season action of the year, the Aggies will face Colorado in a dual match on April 20 at the Prairie Dunes Golf Club in Hutchinson, Kan., the site of the 2014 NCAA Men’s Golf Championship.

The SEC Championship will be held at Sea Island Golf Club in Sea Island, Ga., on April 25-27 before NCAA Regionals take place May 15-17 at various campus sites.

Texas A&M enters the season riding a school-record streak of 11 consecutive trips to an NCAA Regional with 40 total in program history. A year ago, the Aggies finished fourth at the NCAA Tempe Regional to advance to the NCAA Championship for the sixth consecutive year.

The attention of the college golf world will be focused on the NCAA Championship May 27-June 1 at Prairie Dunes Golf Club in Hutchinson, Kan., where Texas A&M will seek to extend its nation-long streak of six consecutive top-15 finishes.
