A Brazos County grand jury has indicted a member of the emergency services district board governing fire and rescue services based in Kurten.

The direct indictment says 51 year old Larry West Jr. of Bryan intentionally, knowingly, and recklessly misapply between $2,500 and $30,000 dollars.

West has been on the board of emergency services district two (ESD 2) since January 2021 and before that was the district two volunteer fire department’s representative to the board.

According to the indictment, an investigation by the department of public safety showed the junior West spent ESD 2 money on personal credit accounts between January 2019 and February 2021.

West, who is still listed on the ESD 2 website as the board secretary, spent part of Monday (July 14) in the Brazos County jail before being released after posting a $20,000 dollar bond.
