Medina Supporter Tries to Upstage Perry

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) _ As Gov. Rick Perry spoke to a Capitol anti-abortion rally, a supporter of Republican opponent Debra Medina tried to steal some of the show.

Jim Dillon, a 55-year-old from Liberty Hill, held a large sign bearing the words “Debra Medina for Pro-life Governor” as he stood about 10 feet from Perry.

Perry mostly ignored him during his speech Saturday. But at one point Perry urged audience members to love their enemies, even someone trying to “interrupt a person who’s simply trying to speak his mind.”

Dillon continued to stand and hold his sign near Perry, even when two state troopers asked him to sit.

Perry is facing Medina and U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison in the March 2 Republican gubernatorial primary.
