Man Run Over Outside Bryan Sports Bar; Driver Arrested

A man was arrested early Monday after a fight outside a Bryan sports bar.

Bryan Police received reports of a hit-and-run involving a vehicle and a pedestrian at the El Centenario Sports Bar in the 1200 block of West William J. Bryan Parkway just after 2:00am.

The victim has been in a fight with two men. Those men, 27-year-old Alex Gaytan and 30-year-old John Manuel Gaytan, III, both of Bryan, headed back to their pickup to leave. The victim then chased them down and punched the passenger window of their Chevrolet Silverado.

That’s when the driver, Alex Gaytan, put his truck into reverse where the victim was knocked to the ground by the sideview mirror and then run over. Guytan then drove forward, running over the victim a second time, before fleeing the scene.

The victim’s arm and leg were run over and he was transported to St. Joseph’s hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Video from a nearby business confirmed the events. The men were located about 20 minutes later in the 6400 block of Old Spanish Trail.

Alex Gaytan was arrested for Collision Involving Serious Bodily Injury. He was released on $15,000 bond.
