A 21 year-old man from Hempstead was arrested outside a St. Patrick’s Day celebration at Northgate during the midnight hour on Monday.

According to the College Station police arrest report, two off duty officers who were working the event, made an arrest on a highly intoxicated person. While the suspect was being restrained, a second person walked up aggressively and tried to interject himself into the arrest. A group of friends made multiple attempts to coax him away, but he continued to scream at the officers.

One of the officers determined he was intoxicated and might endanger himself or another, so the second man was also arrested for public intoxication. During a search of his person, a handgun was found in his waistband. In addition to public intoxication, Preston Gurrola was charged with unlawful carry of a weapon.

According to online jail records, Gurrola is out of jail after posting bonds totaling $5,300.
